Throttle Body questions 200 1989

So I removed my throttle body and have a few questions. It has a coating of gunk on it and if I hold it up to the light and try to look through it with the flap closed i see a little bit of light around it. The arm isn't quite making contact with the adjustment screw either. I want to clean it, but all I have here are liquid wrench and brakefluid, and no ride to the store.
So, what else besides fi cleaner can be used to clean it (it is removed)
also, I took off the 2 nipples. (one 11mm and one 14mm) When I rty to sick a pin through the hole in the throttle body for the 14mm one it hits the door if it is closed. Is this correct?
Thanks again,
Kyle
