no heat until 15 mins 700

I drive an 1989 740gl wagon. The heat has been working great so far in this cold massachusetts winter. Yesterday was the third or fourth straight day of sub-zero temps. And yesterday my heat and defrost decided not to work at all until past 15 minutes into the drive. plus the car was started 15 mins prior to that. Does anyone know what my problem might be? I had heater core replaced 2 years ago.
