radio and overdrive, can't seem to get either to work right..... 200

I have a 92, 240 wagon. I have a new radio but I can't seem to get the stock unit out. I believe there is a bar of some sort holding it in. I need the secret to getting it out without tearing the whole dash apart. I also have to drive 10-15 mile to "warm-up" my overdrive seleniod before it works. I need any kind of input on the overdrive. I would like to ad I don't have a money tree either. Thanks
