How do I inspect parking brake cables fir slack, adjustment. S90-V90 1998

Until just recently the parking brake on my 1998 V90 was nice and tight. It would snug up firm after the handle had been pulled up about half-way through its range.

In the last week or so it has been acting up. You have to pull it all the way to the top of the range to get any hold and even then it does not hold the car very well. Plus, when I go to release it, I push it down all the way and the handle wants to pop back up an inch or so.

I got under the car and could not see any hardware related to the parking brake. No exposed cables, etc. Only the hydraulic lines going to the rear brakes.

What am I looking for, how do I adjust this, and any other hints??

Thanks.
