SE versus SLE?

What car are you looking at? 240, 740, or 940? The 240 SE was a "special edition" offered only in 1993, and culminating an 18 year production run for the 200 series. It included special alloy wheels, all of the "GL" trim level options, and a few paint colors (fire engine red among them) that were not available in previous years. The SE's also had a plaque on the dashboard indicating which number they were among that year's production run. The differences between a 240SE and a 240/240 DL are wholly cosmetic.

There never was a 740 SE to my knowledge. However, there was a 740 GLE, which was a 740 with GL trim and a 16-valve DOHC motor (B234F).

I'm guessing here, but I think that a 940 SE is a normally aspirated (no turbo) 940 with the turbo level options. Then again, I could have that backwards - it might be a 940 turbo with the n/a trim level (cloth seats etcetera).

No such thing as an "SLE."
