BATTERY PROBLEM...PLEASE HELP!! S90-V90

Anyone who can help PLEASE DO!

I need to drive to work for business tomorrow & now no car due to battery...

I went out to change the battery I have now out for the new Optima battery I bought... Well it was dark and pulled the old one out installed the new one in the tray...
After I connected the wires I saw it spark pretty good...
I checked the polarity and I got it backwards on accident...

** When I went to install it correctly the positive cable still got REALLY hot.
* And it started to smell... So I unhooked the cables.

** I also noticed the altinator jump slightly clockwise when I connect the positive cable.... ???

So now I have no altinator since I can't have it connected with the battery cables in place or else I watch my Volt Meter go down to 10.3V...!!

HELP PLEASE ANYONE!!!!!
-----------------------------------

Does this mean I fried my altinator???

Let me know PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
