M46 into a M47 car

I have a 1987 244 in my garage with a bad M47 transmission. I have two M46 trannys on the floor. I would like to make one of them fit. One is from a 740 the other from an 84 240. (My local junkyard crushed a perfectly good 88 245 last week!) I think I can work out the electrical part, but wonder if anyone has done such a job before. Some questions I have right off are: Will the driveshaft bolt up? If I change the clutch plate to a M46 will the rest of it be it be the same? Will it mount up the same? I read the posts on moving the throw-out ball and hope everything from the 740 will otherwise work. Let me know if you think I am crazy, I can handle it!
