PNP Switch -- Are These Problems Related? 900 1995

Your symptoms are classic for a PNP failure. Mine failed exactly the same way, starts cold but another start would not work until car was realy warmed up. Worse on cold mornings. Another symptom is that back up lights may not always work.

Your car is designed to start in Park or Neutral
If stuck I have found that jiggling the shifter back and forth just a bit in the neutral position will usually allow the starter to catch. If all fails you can touch a wire from the battery plus to the small solonoid connector on the starter and it will always start. (make sure you are in P). Until I got around to installing a new PNP switch I carried a wire with alligator clips on each end for just this purpose, used it more than once.
