high rev when accelerating 700 1989

Hey everyone I need your help desperately.
When I am in gear(i have a manual M47 transmission), and I go to accelerate more than a tiny bit, my car gets really high revs fast(like 3k). Then when i stop accelerating the needle drops fast back to normal position. I am going to do an oil change cuz the oil is starting to get dark and somewhat burn. Please help me in some way... maybe i need to clean some stuff or do some small or easy repairs? PLEASE TELL ME ITS NOT MY WHOLE TRANSMISSION!!!!!!
