740 rear window regulators 700

Hello all,
first of all I wish to thank all of you and your expertize in VOLVO matters, I am in on my 1st VOlvo, a 740 wagon 1988 (323,000) and just reading the postings and the library I was able to fix many a misterious problems, it is a great car.

However, uncarateristicaly for Volvo, the rear window regulators for electric windows are really cheap plastic, flimsy and under ingenered. BOth of mine are broken to bits.

I now wondsr if there is an upgarde for this car, like METAL. I cannot beleve that Volvo would let this one slide.

Altenatevly is there any suggestions as to how to best deal with this and where to get replacement parts?
