Girling or ATE on '74 160 140-160

i have a '74 164 E that i had to switch out the front axle assy. because i bent the original crossmember. i just took off the old assy.(crossmember, a-frames, springs, shocks, roters, etc.) and put on the one from my 142 since the construction of the parts except, of course the springs, etc., is the same. i have yet to put the original 160 springs back in, so the front end is sitting rather low on the 140 springs. but my real question is this: Would it be better to just use the girlings that are on the 140 axle assy., or to switch back in the ATEs when i do the spring transfer. note that this means buying new pads for the ATEs because they are almost gone. the ATEs are vented, with the slots in the middle, and the Girlings are solid discs but with a slightly larger diameter or width. so, yah, which brake setup would be better? or does it even make that much of a difference?
