'89 b230ft gas filter question 700 1989

Trouble shooting a stalling problem and a ? occured to me.
Car ran great then suddenly, when started now won't idle without stalling; run's 4 or 5 seconds then dies either cold or warm. Car will run either in gear or neutral feathering the throttle long as the rpm's remain up but the car boggs down badly increasing the rpm's. Haven't solved it yet ..bummer ):

I am looking at hoses and amm connections and Iac for a vacuum leak or bad hose or electrical connection per the faq's and so far all looks good.
Tho just a couple years old, pulled the gas filter off; emptied it and attempted to blow thru it. Can't blow thru it either way .. does gas get thru it via system pressure or is the gas filter at least perhaps partially blocked?

Makes sense not to able to blow "backwards" thru it ie; towards the gas tank, but thought it'd blow clear towards the fule rail?

Thanks
