ECT fault codes frustration 700

90 740 GLE wagon

Well, i just changed the ECT because I got a check engine light and OBD codes pointing to the ECT, i believe 1-2-3 was the code in socket 2 and 2-2-4 in socket 6. After changing the ECT i still get the same error codes and check engine light on.

I assume that there is a wiring fault. Am i correct in that assumption?

If so, where should i look next to find the wiring fault. There are electrical connectors to the top of the injectors, there are connectors that lead elsewhere. I don't really know where to begin. All i know is that once the wire leaves the ECT connector it goes into a big bundle under the manifold, from there it is beyond me...

Thanks in advance for any help!
