silicone and O2 sensor 900 1995

I just replaced some intercooler hoses on this car, '95 945T, last weekend and applied a thin coat of silicone vacuum grease on the inside of each hose end to lubricate it a bit and make a tight seal. Then I see this caution in the FAQs today on using silicone around the engine due to contamination of the O2 sensor. This grease is the type used to seal connections in systems under high vacuum. It should be able to withstand quite a bit of vacuum, but I don't know about heat. Any idea if I can expect any problems with this? And what would symptoms be if the O2 sensor is affected? The car is running fine right now.
