Proper wiring of alternator on '87 240? 200

Hello Volvo friend,
I've just aquired my third Volvo .P/O had installed a reman alternater in june and never got it to work correctly. So it sat until they had to move away. So,I picked it up.I knew the p/o had very limited mechanical saavy, so I was hoping it was something easy. After looking in the archives, I've read about a common problem with the thin red wire.I also picked up on that there should be a blue ground wire going from the alternater to the engine block.I don't have that wire !My 740s have had some wire updating so I can't use them as a guide.I need some help.My question is where, and how, should this blue wire be attached to the alternater?Thank you all for being available!
