Found out why my rear defogger wasn't working... 200

I am tired of not having a demister so I pulled up the carpet to get to the relay and pulled it out. I put everything back in and went to check the relay. I picked it up and there was a little water on it, so I shook it and it is completely full of water. There was probably a tablespoon of water in it. I was wondering why this would happen, and how to keep it from happening again.
Thanks
