Do I need a new driveshaft? ('85 244) 200

I removed my entire driveshaft (after marking everything to maintain balance) in order to replace the center support bearing and bushing, and all u-joints.

Here's the problem- I mistakenly used a standard puller in attempt to get the bearing off the driveshaft and quickly popped off the grease cap that is inside of the front driveshaft section (it looked like a solid piece in there). This keeps the grease in the splined joint area where it is needed. It doesn't look like there is anyway to put this grease cap back in place.

Should I continue using this one w/o grease cap in place, or get a new front section, or a whole driveshaft from salvage?

I'm assuming that there are places that can re-balance a driveshaft if I just get a new front section?

Thanks
Joe
