urgent - shop waiting - cost to replace cracked head?

thanks, guys! by "machining" they milled the head surface only. There was some pitting on one cyclinder head they said they can fix w/ something like POR-15 epoxy. [hold I - might not have that right - I don't have my notes here at the office] Can ya'll explain more about working on the valves? I don't understand the mysteries of my engine yet - I'm still muddling thru suspension and steering tweaks.

I'll definitely have the replacement head milled. will try to find out more about replacement head cost. I generally like this shop, but they're still handling repairs like I don't have two nickels to rub together. I'm up to quarters these days! lol... I mean really, if you're working on the shin bone, and the knee bone's right next to it is looking funky, pls tell me about the knee bone! I think maybe it's more that most of their customers with bricks over 20 yrs old do only enough to pass state inspection. Very few brick owners in this town agonize over adding only an upper cross brace or splurge on both upper and lower -- the shop frankly thinks I'm nuts doing more than topping off oil and antifreeze.
