whine/grinding noise 200

This is a follow up to a post of a few weeks ago. My 92 240 (140000 miles) is making a noise at idle, that almost sounds like the whine of a jet engine at idle. I took off the alternator belts and PS belt and still had the noise. Having eliminated the alt, water pump, aux fan and PS, (and since the water pump only has about 15000 miles), I replaced the timing belt tensioner bearing, which was sloppy. Thjought that would be th we fix but still have the noise. I know, I did not take off the AC belt (not too easy to do) but the noise doesn't seem to be coming from that vicinity. So where do I go from here? Could a worn out timing belt make a whine/grind noise? Don't know if I can be causing any damage if I drive the car at all. Appreciate any advice
