manual trans install 700

I've seen a good 1988 760 automatic I would like to convert to a manual. This car has independent rear suspension and the newer instrument pod. My question is whether the driveline from a donor 1988 740 manual w/ solid live axle will bolt up on the independent rear end driveline or is there some custom modification needed to make it fit? Will the shifter fit neatly into the shift housing that is an automatic? Does the later style instrument pod have a overdrive indicator that can work with the older manual relay? Can you easily modify the relay wires from the shifter and overdrive solenoid? Bottom line to wit, Who has put a M-46 stick in a later 760/940 series successfully? The 700 forum doesn't cover this one in detail. Thank you all
