Each time we got a 16-valve with a broken belt, i.e. crashed head, at our shop, the bill was over $2000 for the repair. I don't imagine anyone could get it done for less if they're paying to have everything done themselves. And the cost of just the new timing belts is more than a couple of cars I've bought...
