old engine mounts? 700 1990

I'm suspicious that my engine mounts are wearing out--165,000 on the car and engine. Symptoms: play in the gear selector (automatic) on accel and braking, rough shifting in and out of reverse, what seems like excessive shuddering at idle rpm (less than 1000).

the car also has less than expected power, sucks oil, and fairly poor gas mileage (16 on average, mixed hiway/stop and go). I suspect the turbo has something to do with this, though.

does someone have a clean picture of what these mounts look like new that I can compare to? or other rules of thumb? I see that on the 240s the clearance on the oil filter is a good measure, but that doesn't seem to apply in the 740 engine bay.

Also, what kinds of other trouble do old mounts cause?

Thanks for any and all expertise,
Nick
