Are you SURE it's the power stage (ignition amp)? You may also have an intermittent hall sensor which just happened to work when you replaced the power stage. Listen for the fuel pump just after cranking - if silent, suspect the hall (I think an 89 turbo has this as opposed to an RPM sensor). Check FAQ if this is the case. Just an idea. Regards.
