Folks:
To start out, I'll try and describe this project on a concept level. What I am asking for is your thoughts and ideas on how to make it happen, perhaps even redirect or modify the project charter. You might be tempted to ask "what's in it for the group", the answer is simple... not a whole lot beyond free information! Right now I believe that there is an 80% probability that I will start this wallet sucking project within 12 months. The only thing I can guarantee is that I will provide project updates and lessons learned to the Brickboard as the project progresses.
Here is the project guidelines as I see them now:
1: Start with a late model 240 Wagon
2: Safety must not be diminished and will preferably be improved
3: Maintain the stylish good exterior looks of the stock 240 Wagon (except wheels and ride height)
4: Rediculous power that will rival or exceed that of a Chevy Nomad Grocery Getter... and Dodge Magnum for that matter.
5: Radically improved handling and chassis stiffness, including independant rear suspension and a complete brake upgrade.
6: Improve reliability (now that's pie in the sky!)
7: No excessive engine/exhaust noise... unless the driver is standing on it.
8: No Chevy parts can be used in the drivetrain...Ford is preferred, after Volvo of course.
9: North Carolina Emissions and safety inspection legal.
10: Create a very cofortable daily driver that is right at home on a road course or drag strip with the flip of a switch
11: In short, the mother of all sleepers!
Laugh and flame as you like, but I think this will be a fun and informative project for all involved! Once again, any and all input will be greatly appreciated and taken to heart, unless of course I think your'e giving me directions to Hell!
