POLL: who is using synthetic motor oil? 200

model/year:

1. at what mileage did you switch over to synthetic?

2. what viscosity grade/what brand?

3. any noticeable improvement?

4. any noticeable problems (e.g., leaks)?

5. after your first switch-over to synthetic, did you drive the car for a month or fewer than 3000 miles and did another synthetic oil change to rid the engine of any old regular oil?

reason I'm asking is that I've been thinking about switching over to synthetic on my next oil change. after reading some of the good things about using synthetic, I'm persuaded to cross over to the other side. the only thing that is making me think it over is the fear of leaks that synthetic may cause due to its "thinner" make-up, and also the fact that my '89 wagon has about 190k miles and was wondering if that is too high mileage to switch to synthetic. I was at wal-mart today (man, that store has everything and now I understand why so many people get all huffy when they move in) and they have 5qt. bottles of Mobil-1 for about $20.00 each. not bad, I suppose.

btw, I could not find their low-priced in-store brand of synthetic atf that some of you have mentioned. what does the bottle look like? thanks for taking the poll.
