Where exactly is the front crossmember? 200

Where is the front crossmember exactly (between what and what)? Is it above the splashguard? If so, does one need to remove the spalshguard in order to lift the car without damage? It would seem like a poor design to remove that brittle guard every time you lift the front. Thanks again for answering my questions. This forum is great.
