First Time Volvo Owner

Thanks for the advice and info.

The Volvo reputation for safety was a major factor in my wanting to get this car for my son (not that we told him that). One minor concern we do have is how the rear wheel drive Volvos handle in the snow. When we lived in Northern Virginia in the early 90s, it seemed that the ditches near our home were filled with Volvos everytime it snowed.

BTW, I see in the owner's manual (which was in the glove box in almost new condition) that the air bag module and sensors should be replaced every 10 years. Anyone know how much that would cost? And any opinions about whether it is necessary? I believe that my son will be very conscientious about using the seat belts.

Ref my son's plans for the sound system, a major constraint will be that he doesn't have any money. He doesn't work so he is dependent upon a monthly allowance.
