Two questions about outer tie rod ends 900

I am about to replace the outer tie rod ends and have a couple questions:
1. Is that true that the different gear on a 944 requires different outer tie rod ends? They have 'koyo', 'zf', 'trw', etc.. Some websites specifies their tie rod ends only for a certain type while some others say 'fit all 1992-1995 900's'. Why did volvo use different gears on this model? This seems to me costs more in both manufacturing and maintainance.
2. Thanks to spook's help, I found my car has a 'koyo' gear. The only place that sells outer tie rod ends explicitly (not including those 'fit all..') for 'koyo' gears is fcpgroton. The brand is 'karlyn', which I never heard of. Any comments on its quality? Thanks in advance.
