Are VDO and Yazaki intrument clusters interchangeable?? 700 1986

In my 86 740,I have an ADO (German) cluster with a dying speedometer (works sometimes at random), a temp guage that always reads low,, SOOOOOO..on to eBay for a cluster.
I've bought 2 (one turbo and one nonturbo, both Yazaki(Japanese))and now I get the speedo function, but both will not show the fuel level,and the turbo will not show the charging rate.
Do I have a DOA fuel gauge and DOA voltmeter??
How to tell?
