Pre Purchase on an overheated 945T 900

I am going to look at a 1994 945T that was overheated. Evidently the water pump blew out it’s seal. Happened to me once on another car. The owner put coolant in and drove it home. I am going to put on a used water pump and test drive it. Well, I think I should change the oil and the filter too.

Checks before I buy it:
Coolant in the water
Water in the oil
Should I buy a cheap compressor tester from Auto Zone and do a compression test?

What else should I check for, “fried” engine wise? Truth is I do not know how bad or how long it was driven until the owner noticed the gage in the red.

Tom
