I haven't been here for a while because my daughter's car, Sponge Bob (square car) has been liitle used with her in college. But my 16 yo son needs a car now. He found a junker 240 to fix up, but in the meantime we found a much nicer one for very little $. So now the original has to go. We'd prefer to sell the whole car but if that doesn't work, we'll part it out.
The details:
1987 biege/yellow 240 DL with brown interior. 5-speed (no overdrive!). less than 140k. Engine is very strong and runs and starts well. Interior is a bit dirty, but no tears.
The bad: busted out passenger window (covered now) and no radio (see a pattern?) Blower doesn't work - don't know if it's the blower or switch - assume the worst. Rust on the floor pans underneath, but I don't think there's any inside - can check if interested. Was mildly side-swipped on passenger side - not too bad. Very little rust on body and aside from the side-swipe, in nice shape. Paint is pretty good. Clutch cable noisy but works. LF strut toast - mostly a spring now, but others are OK. Brakes OK, may need replacing soon. Driver's side window needs regulator - $20 used.
Lights, horn, wipers etc. all work. PS good, no major leaks, in fact no leaks anywhere I can see. Exhaust sounds fine. Tires OK.
We had it towed home, because it wouldn't start, but found a loose connection and had it running in 30 minutes. I've only driven it for 2-3 blocks, so I can't say how it is on the highway. Seems very peppy conpared to my daughter's '84 GL automatic. Starts up easily.
That's about all I know about it.
We'd prefer to sell the whole car to make room for the new one. I think my son would take $200-$300 for the whole thing.
Otherwise, start the feeding frenzy for parts!
Can email pictures. Car is located in southern Maryland about 50 miles from DC.
