LH 3.1 with an automatic tranny 200 1992

I am in the process of converting a 92 wagon with a 5 speed over to a AW70 auto tranny. The car has LH3.1, not LH2.4. My question is if the LH3.1 will work properly with an auto tranny since the auto tranny 1992 models came with LH2.4. An additional question would be if the 740 was ever made with an auto tranny and a LH3.1 ECU. If yes, would a "simple EPROM swap" on the LH3.1 do the trick?

No, I will not do a conversion to LH2.4 on this car... too expensive and painful!

Any input you may have would be greatly appreciated. My primary concern is that with the LH3.1 and auto tranny combination that the engine will stumble or stall when the torque converter kicks in.

Thank you,
jorrell
