My new 95 940T to be - input, please! 900 1995

SOME '94 & '95 turbos in North America had the lockup torque converter -- several board members can attest to this as their cars are so equipped. But there appears to be no rhyme or reason as to why some have it and some don't.

It's a nice feature because it drops the RPMs -- giving a quieter ride and better fuel economy.

You can tell if it has the locker (AW-71L) by counting the shifts as you accelerate. When the torque converter locks (at about 50-55mph) it will feel like a fifth gear. If the car is equipped with a tachometer, you can try this test: get to highway speed, and gently press on the gas pedal (as much as you can without causing a down-shift). If the RPMs increase by a few hundred, then it's not locked. If the car starts to mildly accelerate, and the RPMs increase just slightly, then it's locked.
