Warning lights all lit up

1991 240 DL: All of a sudden the most of the warning lights came on and won't go off (service, battery, parking brake, brake failure, brake light, bulb) The water gage is running in the red too. I was served notice that the belts need to be replaced. The PS is squealing but have been putting it off. I've recently had a cd player installed, but that was two weeks ago and things were fine until last night. Think it could be the alternator and/or belts?
