AW7x automatic shifter loose, DIY difficulty? 700 1990

I know this is covered in the FAQ but my questions aren't answered, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Recently, I noticed that the shifter has become looser. The other night after work, I noticed that the shifter had started making a strange metallic click with every shift. The noise is more audible when the driver's side door is open, so I'm assuming the noise is external. I had a chance to remove the center console cover today to see if there was anything visible that I could maybe just tighten up, but of course, with my luck, that wasn't the case.

Thus, I went over to the FAQ and figured that my bushings were probably shot. Do you think the slight metallic click is a result of that? Also, the FAQ doesn't make mention of specifics of the job. Will it become immediately apparent to me how to get to the bushings once I put my car onto stands? I'm not afraid of a little work (I do my own oil changes, service my own brakes and rotors, clean my own throttle body, etc.), but if this is fairly involved procedure, I'm reluctant to do it.

Also, FCP Groton has some bushing's listed there. I notice in the FAQ that the author of that section said he had to fashion a bushing from a cut of vinyl hosing. Does this mean FCP does not have the appropriate bushing? How many of the bushings listed on FCP do I need then, 2?

Again, thanks for any help/suggestions you can give!
