960 to second mechanic 900

Brief history.

I put a 93 motor into our 92 960 sedan. Car will only start when the positive battery cable is connected to a , one of those devices garages and tow trucks use to jump start cars when their batteries have been run down. Interesting no? Car spins over really fast while connected to the battery in comparison to when it is connected to the jump box. Once the car has been started it runs like a dream.
After checking multiple multiple possibilities we gave the car to our mechanic that we know and trust. He coulnd't find the problem so now we have passed it to known trusted more expensive mechanic number two. First one didn't charge anything as he couldn't find the problem.

Mechanic 2 seems to be having difficulty replacing the crank sensor on the back of the motor, in the bellhousing. Apparently there is a smalll metal post that is supposed to be stationary but is moving with the sensor making it momentarily impossible to remove.
Any tips? We put the motor in in November and would like to resolve the issue.
