Had a little tuning session... 140-160

Well.... I got around to playing with them today, and when I put the domes back on, I didn't tighten the screws holding them on... I was waiting for me to get them all on before I tightened them, but I forgot to do so. So on one of my three test drives, they fell out, all five that were left... So now I have none... :-\ Car runs just as well as it did before it lost the rest of the 5 screws, but it still does it's funky thing. It's funky thing could be described like this:
Engine starts easily(I don't know about this anymore after resetting the carbs), but it would start up easily when cold. Run fine, as if the choke was on almost, and then when warmed up it would run fine most of the time, and then sometimes when it was idling it would start running rough, as if the choke was on, and the choke was full off. So today, after tuning the carbs, the car runs great, it idles fine most of the time, but sometimes it will do that thing where it acts like it's running rich... And sometimes it will pop when I'm decellerating and keep it in gear... But, now that my bolts are gone, I don't know how much of a difference that is making. And also, is there any type of seal that is supposed to go between the dome and the base? It would make sense for there to be some type of gasket that fits in there... But I don't remember ever having any.

So that's where I'm at now, in need of some screws before I can really tell what's going on. I'm going to see if Andrew has a set of SU's lying around that I can borrow some from. In the meantime, I don't want to drive it much, although it was doing just fine, and hopefully I can get a hold of some screws before I need to leave for Albany and then Portland on Saturday.

Engine runs GREAT reguardless, best ever, and the timing is currently set at what might be 17 deg. advanced. It was at 15 before I played with the carbs today, and no pinging was heard. Once I get the domes on there good, I will try advancing the timing even further, or try running on regular gas to see if I can get away with that for now and save money...

Now for Saturday evening, I will be up in Seattle fiddling with HS6s on a car that is in iffy condition and see if I can drive it down to portland... :-\ We shall see...
