Turbo diesel for $500 good/bad? 700 1986

I'm not in the market for another Brick (perfectly happy with my current one), but I spotted a car I've never seen before for sale--a 1986 740 turbo diesel for $500, and I was wondering if that's a reasonable price.

The car looks worn. I didn't get a chance to go over it in detail (really just a slow couple of drive-bys), but the exterior looked faded, and one (or more) of the turn signals were broken. I think the car has been put to great use by its previous owners, and so I wouldn't expect the interior to be in much better shape. I'd guess it's got close to 200,000 miles on it.

But, it's a turbo diesel, and I hardly ever seen any diesel Volvos around here. I don't think I've ever seen a turbo diesel. Provided it runs and has had semi-decent maintenance, even with a worn interior and exterior is it worth $500? Is there anything particularly special (or troublesome) about these cars and engines that would radically affect the expected selling price? I'm just curious, not really looking to buy.
