1989 740T for 2000.00 is it a good price? 700

I am tenatively looking for a Volvo as a daily driver (18mi per day) that in the future can be converted to a V8. This volvo is in a guys front yard on my way to work so I dropped by today for a quick look. I know pricing is all relative to the condition of the car however I'm just curious what y'all think generally, ie is it realistic to expect to pay 2k for a reliable volvo.

1989 740T
Auto
Grey Ext
Black Leather Int
160k miles
Current owner is 2nd
Says there is a clunk noise that comes from the rear of the car on start from stop but that it goes away once moving. Says it costs 300 to repair. Anyone know what he is talking about?

The drive train only has to last for about another 2 years hopefully when I would possibly be able to perform the conversion.

Thanks
Travis
