Tachometer install question 140-160 1974

First let me say that I'm a total idiot when it comes to anything mechanical. Now that we have that out of the way, here is my "how to" question. Today I pulled a factory tach from a '76 245 in the junk yard. I remived the guage and had the idea of tracing the cable from the dash to the engine bay to see what it was connected to. When I found it under the hood I discovered that it was disconnected:( I took the gauge and the cable but now I need to know where to connect the cable to under the hood. Remember, I'm a mechanical novice so please be extremely detailed in your description. If you could include a picture that would be even better!
