I have a question. I've owned an 1800ES for 25 years and added another in 1997. I've driven VirgiltheVolvo in the winter since 1983 to save the 1800ES from the weather. I just finished a "fix up" of a 1956-7 444 to become my daily driver. And my nephew asked if he could learn about cars from me. I told him I only know about old Volvos and he was OK with that. Roaming around Western New York we found a 1968 122 from California with a Black plate. Was green but recently painted white. No battery when purchased so we didn't know if it ran. Has some kind on electronic ignition box but I jumped around it with a different coil and cleaned the carbs....vrooom. Nice running car with a coil zip tied to the brake master cylinder. Everything looks stock but it has a "booster" for the brakes that is outside my experience. It's hissing from a large plastic cap (clear) thingy towards the firewall from the diaphram right on the casting and facing up. My 544 (virgilthevolvo) and my 444 (V2) stop fine without this complexity. The question is... can I just remove this item and #2 is it as simple as it looks? Looks like I just take the brake line out of the booster FROM the master and place it into the brake junction block that comes FROM the booster. Plug the vacuum...unbolt the monster.
Will it be this easy?
Thanks for replies.
