AC/Power Steering... help! 200 1992

Alright, So I replaced ALL my v-belts just recently with not too much trouble (besides crappy weather). For about 6-8 months, I had been running TWO belts (Power Steering-Water Pump, Alternator-Crank-Water Pump) and had been fine. (my AC wasn't working anyway so i figured what the hell...)
Anyhow, My belts were getting really cracked and needed replacement.
Now i've got the new belts on (correct routing, size and tension) and I'm running into a problem.
The belt which connects the AC to the crank keeps slipping (as in the bad kind of slip which burns the damn rubber right off)
What kind of Swedish genius hooked up the PS to the AC? I'd like to give him a piece of my mind for sure, as my car smells of hot, burnt rubber.
Can anyone give me something to look at? Other possibilities etc?
I dont want to have to buy (more) new belts in order to bypass the AC.

Thanks
Spencer
