Oil Filler Cap Gasket 200 1989

What's the deal? Does anyone have a gasket that doesn't turn very hard and start to leak after 6 months?

Flame trap is clean, Oil seperator canister is clear, I can blow down the hose easily and hear it through the Valve Cover. So I don't think I have any Over Pressure issues. All I get is oil weeping down the Valve Cover from the Filler Cap.
I've played games by cutting a cardboard gasket to add thickness to the original. I do that as a temperary fix until I get a new Gasket. After the new gasket I take the cardboard off. It works for a few months and then the gasket gets hard and we get leakage again. A nice Flexible O'ring that stays pliable must be out in the world someplace.
