The same happened to me. Clean out the carbon and it works a few times.

I bought a set of window switches on ebay for about the same price I would have paid at a junk yard. On a ’95 940 and probably the 960, the drivers side window switches are lighted and I did not want to give that up nor pay the dealers price. I just changed out the teeter totter contacts and hoped for the best. After 5 months it is still working.
