mystery wire -eng. comp. - 89 240 wagon 200

Can anyone identify this wire and where the forward end should be attached? There is a wire conduit - (about 1/2" dia.) exiting the firewall above the a.t.f. dipstick and appears to run to the headlight housing. About halfway along its path,aproximatly above the driver's side front wheel, a small green wire exits the conduit. It has a spring (fuse?) line connector and exits the connector as a black wire of the same diameter. The black line has apparently broken loose of whatever it connects to. Any ideas? Or any links to a good engine compartment diagram? I've done some looking in F.A.Q. & elsewhere, but no luck so far.
