1988 245 Bogging down with acceleration, poor gas mileage 200

Hello everyone, I have a problem that I cannot figure out! My car idles okay and drives well to about 1/3 pedal, then it starts to bog down, but if you let off to that 1/3 pedal it will sound normal again and this continues if I try to go past that 1/3 pedal position. If I floor it it will down shift but then boggs down and has no power. If I am on flat ground, I will graduallly pick up speed and I had it as fast as 60mph but that is as fast as she would go. If I attempt to climb a steep hill, it will slow down to about 30mph then down shifts. I filled the tank, drove 33 miles and now the gas guage is reading between 7/8 and 3/4 tank. Any advice would be appreciated, I am about to replace the exhaust from the cat back right now as it is a total loss there but not sure if that lack of back pressure would cause this??! Thanks for any tips and hope this makes sense to someone!!!
