That is why I don't use an airflow meter. I use a piece of hose stuck in
my ear and held about ½" inside the carb throat.

There should NOT be that big a difference in performance between cold and hot.
Rich mixture and spark advance may help you get the warm weather performance
up. You should probably only be able to tell the difference at full throttle
and high rpm with a dynamometer (at constant speed).
