Dies when warm. 700 1988

Hello All, I have an '88 740 turbo that has seen better days. It starts out w/ strong acceleration until it warms up, then power is greatly reduced to the point where it almost cuts out when I am on the highway and want to accelerate above 55. As soon as I get back into traffic and try to accelerate from a stop, it sputters with a kind of start/stop until it just stops. When I try to restart warm it gives kind of a sputtering start, then nothing. I tried to remedy this specific problem by replacing a turbo hose (acually had a rather shady volvo shop do that one because my car died near thier place, email for UN-recomedations) in-tank pump, and plug wires, all to no avail. Any insight would be greatly appreciated on this one as I am most likely give this one up for a 240 which a friend is offering me (stay tuned for next posting on THIS cars intermitent dying issue)
