AT Problems 200 1989

I was having what I thought were OD problems, probably nothing more than the OD relay, or maybe a flush. It was having some problems shifting into OD, or I suppose it could have been any gear because I was relying on my wife's description and my own limited experience with the problem, which seemed to be an OD problem.

So I swapped the OD relay with a known good one and flushed the fluid. Now the problem is worse if anything, and it's definitely happening in the lower gears, especially when the tranny is cold. Intermittently I can get it to shift into second and third, but not always. I doubt that it's the kickdown cable because I would think that would be more consistent.

I've got about 160K on it, and it has been very well maintained. Please tell me that my tranny is OK, and it's something simple that I haven't thought of. What are the symptoms of a dying tranny? Other than the shifting problem, which has come on very quickly and recently, there are no other symptoms. It's shifting smoothly always, and there are no strange noises.
