Loose valve comment! 700

That really depends on "how loose?" All cams have a clearance ramp, if contact takes place in an area other than the clearance ramp you end up with impact loading resulting in a lobe failure.

I have analyzed a number of cams with lobe flank failures so my recommendation would be not to exceed .005" loose.

I'm not really an expert but it's what I do for a living at Clevite Engine Parts.*
